Bring learning to life!!

Samaskaara’s Workshops are designed for students to build 21st century skills

Workshops

In a fast changing world where what is learnt today may become extraneous tomorrow, what is it then that would prepare young learners effectively for life beyond school? In a survey conducted on 400 hiring executives, it was indicated that in their new recruits they look for oral and written communicative skills, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, professionalism and work ethic, and teamwork and collaborative skills (Trilling and Fadel 2009).

We, at Samaskaara, not only focus on these skills but also provide learning opportunities where students can align skill learning within the framework of their curriculum, become proactive and exert control on their learning process.

The workshops are focused on providing opportunities for student learning that regular school does not support due to regimented compartmentalized classroom teaching. The student development opportunities are focussed on improving students’ proficiencies in written, spoken, visual and technological communications.

Our workshop offerings:

Research and Academic Writing

Clear and effective communication in written form is critical in school and beyond. While good writing skills can give you that required impetus, poor writing skills can very well be the proverbial ‘kiss of death’ when students start with writing their personal statements, financial aid applications, college applications, internship applications, school and college essays etc.

Social Leadership

As a registered center for Duke of Edinburgh Award (IAYP), we partner with NGO’s to provide an opportunity for engaging with the civic society leading to experiential learning, better communication skills, leadership qualities and harnessing sensitivity towards the community. The endeavor of the programme is to educate students for civic life making promising access and success at college.

Experimental Design

Presenting an Independent Investigation for academic purpose basically should answer the following questions:
A. How well was the investigation designed?
B. What is the legitimacy of the results?
C. Are you able to lighten the task of the reader by effective communication using correct vocabulary?

The course endeavors to instill in the pupils the art of effective scientific writing skills.

Critical Thinking and Essay Writing

Going beyond simple description and making sure that a strong EVALUATION is presented by weighing up the strengths and weaknesses of any argument shows higher-order cognitive skills. Universities look for these skills in students for them to be able to take research work.

Further more Critical Thinking gives you an intellectual approach that enables you to select from the available information that which is relevant to you and which you most agree with, analyze different perspectives and make informed judgments.

Warning:
Even if two authors make
the same assertions, it
does not necessarily
mean it is true.
